THE COMPILATION OF FINAL FANTASY VII
About:
The Compilation of Final Fantasy VII was announced in 2003 and began in 2004 with the release of Before Crisis. Despite Advent Children being announced first in 2003 along with the Compilation, Before Crisis was released first in 2004 with Advent Children releasing the following year in 2005.
Producer Yoshinori Kitase "immediately chose Final Fantasy VII" over other Final Fantasy's to make the Compilation because it was the most popular among fans and because of its status as a milestone in the series' history and added "the ending of FFVII seemed to...open up so many possibilities with its characters, more so than other games.".
The then Square Enix president Yoichi Wada stated that the Compilation could last until the 20th anniversary of Final Fantasy VII (1997-2017). After the release of Advent Children Complete in 2009, Square Enix has taken a break from the Compilation, but have said they have various future ideas for projects.
